Here is some insight to the MMA brand Project Discipline from Owner Brandon Bettes through a little Q & A session:

What is Project Discipline and what does "pdupinit" stand for? pd is a fight shop that sells supreme quality MMA gear and apparel. We design our own brand of fight gear and apparel as well as sell name brand gear. PDUPINIT is our slogan and is what everyone will associate project discipline with. It stands for "project" "discipline" "up" "in" "it". My goal is to be anywhere and everywhere in the MMA world and beyond. We are upinit baby!

How did you come up with Project Discipline? There was a ton of thought that went into the name of my company and it was weird, I actually woke one morning super early with the name Project Discipline; just came to me in my sleep. If you look up definitions of the two words, they make perfect sense. The definition of Project is: a large or major undertaking, especially one involving considerable money, personnel, and equipment. The definition of Discipline is: activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training. The two combined completely define Mixed Martial Arts. Any fighter involved with MMA knows that you can never stop learning the various arts that make up MMA, it is always an ongoing Project. To be successful in these various arts you need complete Discipline for both the mental and physical aspects of MMA.

Why is pdfight shop around? I train in MMA and I always seemed to be challenged in finding a good store that actually had an inventory for me to physically see and feel, even here in San Diego. Seemed like the only gear that was available was the gear on display which was either too big or too small. Nobody ever had a good selection, and if they did it was way too big. To top it off they were WAY over priced.

How will pd Fight Shop resolve those issues? For one I will always have the sickest gear in the game. Since I train and use the gear I know what works and what real fighters like. Whatever is on my site is what's available. I will also have accurate sizing help on the site for those who want to purchase on line. If you are anywhere in SD I can meet you at your gym and deal business that way. Oh, I almost forgot, pdfightshop is mobile, meaning I don't have a storefront, therefore not having the extra expense of rental overhead, which in turn drives prices up. That's why my prices are lower than EVERYBODY'S!

You are mobile? I train out of the Lava gym in Carlsbad. There are 5 of these gyms in SD county and I can go to any of them and meet with customers. Even if people aren't members to Lava they can still meet me there. These gyms are awesome and I would recommend them to anyone to join! If you are looking for gear your need a great place to train, Lava is that place! I would also be willing to meet at any other gyms in SD.

Goals for pd fight shop? I have so many goals for this company. I guess to start, for the shop side is to keep the prices affordable for everyone and wanting everybody coming to me for gear and apparel. I also really want my own line to take off and I want to get into sponsoring fighters. I want project discipline to not only be clothing or gear, but a lifestyle that is applicable to any person that lives life. I want project discipline to be a collaboration of sport, life, fashion, art, and all the other elements that make Project Discipline a completely original and innovative brand. Ultimately I want to see my brand on people in all walks of life, the streets and in the ring or cage, and then just being there to take it all in.

Sponsoring fighter's is apart of your plan? Yep, I want to sponsor fighters. I want them to wear the brand project discipline and I want them to get their gear from project discipline. How is Project Discipline different from the other brands? I want to be set apart from the others by having the best prices, quality, availability, and awesome designs. Regarding my own line, I am always coming up with new designs and ideas. I feel I have a good sense of style and I don't believe that style needs to be overpriced. Just check out my fight shorts, T's and gear; they are simple but they are sick! I have been really impressed with the gear we have released like gloves, head gear, and shinguards. It's been a blast to compare to other leading brands and actually do right what they are doing wrong. Our gear is seriously legit!

How would you like for your operation to work? I would like for people to be able to approach me at my gym, LAVA Carlsbad or wherever and tell me what they need. There is a chance I have what they are looking for on me. The best way though, is to go through my website and buy or shoot me an email to set up a meeting; if they want to buy in person. That would be the most ideal way for both me and the customer. Also, I have a wireless Credit/Debit scanner for people who only carry plastic.
